Tuesday Thingers!

Er, so for much of yesterday, I was checking out people's blogs to see if they had updated Tuesday Thingers, but I couldn't find any, so I didn't update. But this morning I checked out Lori's blog, and she updated yesterday, so here we go, just a day late and a dollar short :-)

Today’s Tuesday Thingers question is:
Why LT?

Why did you choose to open and maintain an LT account? Do you/did you use other online cataloging/social networking sites, like GoodReads or Shelfari? Do you use more than one? Are they different or do they serve different purposes?

I opened my account on LibraryThing in May, 2006. 2006 was really my "Year of Reading." I went crazy- I think I read more books that year than I ever had before, and than I probably ever will again. Certainly, 2007 and 2008 aren't up there. I was also very involved in a lot of online reading communities on Yahoo groups and on other forums. I had joined Paperbackswap. LibraryThing came out, and people were raving about it, and it just seemed like the right thing to do. And so I did, I became a lifetime member, and I LOVE it. I don't use it every day, but every time I purchase a book, it goes into my library. I also have a GoodReads account, but I do not use it. I don't update it with reviews or with new books often at all. I am LT all the way :-)

  1. How many books did you read in 2006?
I do better some years than others as well. I only read a few books in the first few months of this year, but since April and adding book reviews to my blog (and joining LT), I've been reading a ton.
I posted for Tuesday Thingers too.

  2. 2007 seems to have been my reading year with 127, this year though... 15 so far.

  4. I am loyal to LT, too. I've never really bothered looking at the other book-related sites like Shelfari and GoodReads. I figure I get enough book recommendations from book bloggers and friends, so I don't really use LT for the social aspects.

I read every comment posted on this blog, even if it sometimes takes me a while to respond. Thank you for taking the time and effort to comment here! Unless you are spamming me, in which case, thanks for nothing.
