It's much more about the people. However, there is definitely magic in this book and a totally different realm that the characters travel to, so ... there's that. So far, I'm about 50% done with book 2, and there is much less magic.

And the narrator is really, really good!Aartihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02354873119188597611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-15745537950495628982014-12-12T08:46:33.397-06:002014-12-12T08:46:33.397-06:00The audio is really good! I have a feeling if I read it physically, everyone would have a very whiny voice.Aartihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02354873119188597611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-5173226584665104062014-12-12T08:45:59.529-06:002014-12-12T08:45:59.529-06:00Haha, well, not a great endorsement for the second...Haha, well, not a great endorsement for the second one ;-) I'm reading it now and I think it has some of the same issues as the first - a lot of the scenes/events seem totally disconnected from the larger story, whatever the larger story may be.Aartihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02354873119188597611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-10575076128581960622014-12-12T08:45:15.416-06:002014-12-12T08:45:15.416-06:00Obviously, after seeing that comment, I had to loo...Obviously, after seeing that comment, I had to look up what happens at the end of the the next book (which I am listening to right now), and I think I know what you are referring to. Sigh. I feel like the 3rd book gets the best reviews of them all, though, so may be worth reading. Don't think I want to do it in regular format, though, since I've enjoyed the audio so much.Aartihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02354873119188597611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-72815993680231263042014-12-12T07:11:35.087-06:002014-12-12T07:11:35.087-06:00I'm not much of a fantasy reader, but love you...I'm not much of a fantasy reader, but love your take on this book. It's been on the edge of radar for some time and I had not considered going the audio route, but Mark Bramhall is an excellent narrator. And then I had a whole separate set of problems with something that happens towards the end of The Magician King, and I am still too annoyed about it to read The Magician's Land.Jenny @ Reading the Endhttp://readingtheend.comnoreply@blogger.com
