That is solely because the only book I've read in Discworld is Thud! and I've read part of Snuff. Enjoyed Thud! tremendously and I have no doubt I'll continue to like Snuff when I get back to it.

I gather one of the cool things about Discworld is that everyone connects with different characters. It is that husband/father aspect that attracts me so much to Sam, that and the fact that he is the head of a mixed bag of employees and I feel very connected to that too, lol!Carl V. I remember being really impressive with how Pratchett addressed racism in it when I first read it, but like you I wish I remembered the details better.Ana S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16092495983972185943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-58826571787908084672013-01-01T22:30:00.635-06:002013-01-01T22:30:00.635-06:00I seriously need to find time to read this series!...I seriously need to find time to read this series!Kailanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11136262232046813471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-68421319297871343522012-12-29T07:15:50.658-06:002012-12-29T07:15:50.658-06:00Well, I wonder if Pratchett's daughter will re...Well, I wonder if Pratchett's daughter will return to some of the other characters in the City Watch miniseries (also my favorite). With Pratchett having Alzheimer's, I wonder if all of the intricacies of the characters is just too difficult. When I heard that he had it, it broke my heart. I love the Discworld series.LinWashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13041832821260168483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-18859244242397273722012-12-28T19:31:21.913-06:002012-12-28T19:31:21.913-06:00That cover is a Paul Kidby illustration, I think -...That cover is a Paul Kidby illustration, I think - he has done the UK covers. This is the first time that the US edition has his work, as far as I know. I'm familiar with that Sam Vimes from The Art of Discworld, which Kidby did with Terry Pratchett - a great book!

I've had this one on my TBR stacks since it came out. I really need to read it - so I just skimmed your post.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-10063692204665520752012-12-28T15:30:48.506-06:002012-12-28T15:30:48.506-06:00Why do there have to be so many in this series? I do agree that Pratchett deals with some very dark material here but he does it with sensitivity and humour. And I love Lady Sybil, she is indeed glorious!sakurahttp://www.chasingbawa.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-13504403042830278462012-12-28T07:53:00.451-06:002012-12-28T07:53:00.451-06:00I listened to this one in audio as well, but it wa...I listened to this one in audio as well, but it was my first experience with Terry Pratchett's work so it was a little bit of a struggle for me. However, I do want to dive into the Discworld series from book 1 and then later, when I feel a bit more "expert" on Pratchett's world, might dive back into audio at that point! I'm glad you enjoyed it!Natalie~Coffee and a Book Chickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12369504951819517390noreply@blogger.com
