It's perfect if they are balanced nicely. I think I'd still like to read this though, just to get the flavour of the era.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-49278263301744882602010-12-28T21:39:45.452-06:002010-12-28T21:39:45.452-06:00This was such an interesting review to read. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing, from the author's point of view.

Nymeth- Ooh, I didn't think to compare her to Maisie Dobbs. Their personalities are very, very different, but neither one does much for me. I want to borrow your copy of Stranger in the House, too, especially as it is nowhere to be found here...

Marie- Yes, a little too much lingo and not enough... something.

Mystica- I try! Thanks.

BLodeuedd- I think you would enjoy Rosie. I have a feeling I'd have been far more interested in the peripheral stuff than in the main plot as well. And I wish I could lend you my copy of Stranger in the House by Julie Summers! It deals with so many of those questions.Ana S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16092495983972185943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-76319785166805533522010-12-28T08:53:51.986-06:002010-12-28T08:53:51.986-06:00Though the book doesn't really sound like some...Though the book doesn't really sound like something that I would like, your conversation about the effects of war on couples in relationships was fascinating to me. It is true that this probably happens more than anyone will ever realize, and it is kind of sad and disheartening that this unintended side-effect of the war is probably all too common, even by today's standards. This was a riveting review Aarti. I really thought you made some excellent points about the things that interested you in the book.Zibileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05857638467064749190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-23675851197508708592010-12-28T07:56:36.409-06:002010-12-28T07:56:36.409-06:00Very interesting observations about love surviving...Very interesting observations about love surviving wartime (or not). It sounds like that issue makes this book worthwhile in spite of all the "dollface" stuff going on!rhapsodyinbookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07041412748239010264noreply@blogger.com
