I managed to finish the book, but that didn't really change my feelings about it.

A better book to read about the Trojan princess would be Priam's Daughter by Georgia Sallaska.Bookish Hobbithttp://bookishhobbit.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-29451634238143059392011-06-06T19:58:19.162-05:002011-06-06T19:58:19.162-05:00I can't remember if I've read this one eit...I can't remember if I've read this one either but I'm definitely not tempted to pick it up again! Even then, when I was hot and heavy into learning about everything Feminism, I still couldn't finish it. I am starting to think I only really like her Mists of Avalon and a couple of the sequels. Nothing else by her has really worked for me and I wound up just getting rid of this book.Kailanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11136262232046813471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-3151062427265177362011-06-05T20:46:05.644-05:002011-06-05T20:46:05.644-05:00Literary Feline - I only read Mists of Avalon by B...Literary Feline - I only read Mists of Avalon by Bradley and while I enjoyed that one, most of her other books don't really appeal to me. Including this one!

Tracy - I definitely want to read more of the Canongate series! I really enjoyed the Penelopiad.

Zibilee - Yes, at least I took it off my TBR pile ;-) That's an accomplishment, isn't it?

Blodeuedd - I agree completely. It sounds like this book was really a one trick pony, what with all the doom and gloom and complaining about women's roles and such. I don't think I would really like this one very much, but I was glad to have read your review and to have gotten a picture of what it was about, as I have mostly ignored offerings from this author. Sorry to hear it wasn't what you were expecting!Zibileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07443338685890187334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-21115890347011613772011-06-05T03:18:46.070-05:002011-06-05T03:18:46.070-05:00I'm all for authors who bring a new way of loo...I'm all for authors who bring a new way of looking at mythology and classical books, one of my favourite recent series is the Canongate myths one, but not sure I'd read this one, Aarti. Then again, I haven't read The Iliad, either, although Homer's Odyssey is on my TBR shelf.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03070070360087765540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7343567357202223317.post-15040196887382745502011-06-05T00:01:05.716-05:002011-06-05T00:01:05.716-05:00I can't for the life of me remember if I have ...I can't for the life of me remember if I have read this one by Bradley.
